“Cereal crops that have rigid non-cellulose components in the cell wall tissues of leaves and high starch and protein content in grains face limitations in DNA extraction. Advanced molecular genetic techniques such as mapping and marker-assisted selection programs require pure and quick DNA extraction. In this study, we developed methods for isolating high-quality genomic DNA from leaves and seeds of major cereal crops with minor modifications. DNA yields ranged from 300 to 1800 ng for 0.01 g seed or leaf tissue.”
“The resistive switching properties in the amorphous Lu(2)O(3) films deposited by pulsed Selleckchem Crenigacestat laser deposition
have been investigated. Well unipolar switching behaviors of Pt/Lu(2)O(3)/Pt stacks were obtained. The memory cells exhibited a high resistance ratio over 1 x 10(3), fast CAL-101 in vitro programming speed within 30 ns, and no obvious degradation
after an endurance of 300 switching cycles and a duration of 3.2 x 10(6) s. The first-principles calculation indicates that the oxygen vacancies in cubic Lu(2)O(3) will form defective energy level below the bottom of conduction band, and reduce the band gap. The absence of grain boundaries in the amorphous Lu(2)O(3) films helps us attribute the switching mechanism of such stacks to the possible redistribution of defects related to oxygen vacancies along the filamentary paths during the resistive switching process. “Objective To compare the efficacy and side effects of 0.2 mg methyl-ergometrine IM, 400 mu g misoprostol sublingual and 125 mu g 15 methyl PGF2 alpha IM in active management of third stage of labor.
Method
Two hundred low risk pregnant women with induced or spontaneous labor were randomized to receive either 400 mu g misoprostol sublingually or 0.2 mg methyl-ergometrine intramuscularly or 125 mu g 15-methyl PGF2 alpha intramuscularly, after the delivery of anterior shoulder of baby. The main outcome measures were: blood loss more than 500 ml, need for additional oxytoxic drug, change in hemoglobin level and side effects due to drugs.
Results The median estimated blood loss, blood loss more than 500 ml, need for additional oxytocic drug and change in hemoglobin levels were similar in all three groups. The significant side effects in the misoprostol LY3039478 manufacturer group were shivering, pyrexia (temperature > 38 degrees C) and vomiting, which were self-limiting. Diarrhea was significantly more in the 15 methyl PGF2 alpha group. Three women in methyl-ergometrine group underwent manual removal of placenta. One woman in misoprostol group received blood transfusion.
Conclusion Sublingual misoprostol appears to be as effective as intramuscular methyl-ergometrine and intramuscular 15-methyl PGF2 alpha in the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage. It can be a good alternative in resource poor setting.
