Disease progression modeling (DPM) plays a crucial role in the strategic design of model-driven drug development programs. The scientific community strongly believes that the adoption of DPM is crucial to accelerating and enhancing effectiveness in drug development initiatives. A survey conducted by the International Consortium for Innovation & Quality (IQ) in Pharmaceutical Development across numerous biopharmaceutical companies assesses the difficulties and possibilities related to DPM. Included in this summary is a presentation of the perspectives on IQ, as articulated during the 2021 workshop hosted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Sixteen pharmaceutical companies engaged with the IQ survey, which featured 36 principal questions. The evaluation instrument utilized a variety of question formats: single-option, multiple-option, binary, rank-order, and comprehensive free-form text questions. The key results demonstrate a distinct representation of DPM, encompassing natural disease progression, placebo effects, standard care as background treatment, and potentially even serving as a pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic model. Difficulties in achieving cross-functional alignment within the organization, a shortage of disease/data knowledge, and constraints on time often prevent the consistent use of DPM. Upon successful implementation, DPM can impact the determination of appropriate dosages, minimize the necessary sample size, improve the evaluation of trial outcomes, facilitate patient selection and stratification, and generate strong support for regulatory interactions. Sponsors of the survey presented 24 case studies, highlighting both the key success factors and key challenges of disease progression models in various therapeutic areas. This study seeks to understand the dynamics of contemporary cultural capital, scrutinizing the cultural resources perceived as valuable by young people. The scholarly literature subsequently lends considerable credence to Bourdieu's model of social space, as the combined measurement of economic and cultural capital is persistently recognized as the primary axis of differentiation, mirroring the findings in 'Distinction'. However, whereas Bourdieu discerned the second axis to be a polarity between cultural and economic capital, with the inverse also being true, many subsequent analyses instead demonstrate a contrast between the youthful and the aged as the structuring principle of this second axis. Hitherto, this observation has not received the necessary attention. This paper argues that the examination of age-related inequalities provides a powerful method for interpreting recent developments, particularly with respect to the shifting value of cultural capital and its interaction with the intensification of economic inequalities. Through a theoretical lens, we will examine the relationship between cultural capital and youth, followed by a synthesis of relevant research regarding young people and the value of their cultural consumption practices. The review will pragmatically concentrate on the 15-30 age range and underscore the advanced Norwegian studies within this genre.
